Carvalho will be interviewed on Tuesday

The big news that at Pinellas School Board interviews for superintendent is that one of three finalists, Alberto Carvalho, associate superintendent in Miami-Dade, didn’t come for the interview, though he’s been in contact with the board all weekend. His absence was expected.

His reason: He’s involved in preparing his district for Hurricane Ike. But one board member speculated that  Carvalho didn’t show considering the Miami-Dade school

board is assembly that to determine the terms of that district superintendent’s departure.

About 1 p.m., the board decided they would ask Carvalho to be interviewed Tuesday from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. and said they hoped he could still prepare the public event planned for tonight.

Stay tuned. More to come.
