Bank tellers to robber: Get lost!

By at 16 March, 2010, 10:00 pm

For the second time in a week, a South Florida bank teller just said no to someone attempting to rob the bank. Last Thursday, a would-be robber in Hollywood left with insufficient funds after a teller said no, police said on Monday, reports the South Florida Sun-Sentinel . It probably helped that the teller was behind a bulletproof window and the robber did not appear to be armed, police said. The woman walked into the BB&T Bank in Hollywood around 3:45 p.m. Thursday, he handed the teller a note demanding money, and then simply left when the teller refused, police said. Surveillance cameras captured images of her at the teller’s window and in the parking garage behind the bank. She left in a gold four-door sedan with a landau roof and a missing left front hub cap.

The day before, in West Palm Beach, a would-be robber left empty-handed when the teller told him the bank had no money, police said. The man walked into the PNC branch on Belvedere Road in West Palm Beach at about 2 p.m., police said. He handed the teller a note saying he had a gun but never showed the weapon. When the man demanded money, the teller said they had none, and the man – hard to believe he actually believed that answer – ran away. Police are still searching for the guy, described to be in his late 20s or early 30s, weighing about 240 pounds. He was wearing dark glasses, long-sleeve plaid shirt, and dark gray pants.
