Atlantic High band director with troubled history fired in Delray Beach

“It’s just concerning because we don’t know why he was let go”

A band director at Atlantic Community High School with a troubled past was fired this week, leaving students and parents wondering why. David Faulk started at the Delray Beach Beach school on Aug. 22, the first day of school. But Principal Kathleen Weigel called Faulk, 53, into her office during his last class on Mondayand fired him. He said the news came to him as a shock. ‘I’ve been a teacher for 28 years, but I’ve never been fired like this,’ Faulk said. Weigel reportedly asked for his keys and ID card and told him to

pick up his belongings later. Faulk said his past caught up with him. He was fired from a teaching job in 2000 after an arrest for embezzlement and resigned from a job earlier this year under allegations of misconduct. Read more
