Yep, another Florida festival. This time around it’s the Captain Billy Bowlegs Pirate Invasion in Fort Walton Beach. Don’t know the story? Well, picture this: The year is 1779. Adventurer, wanderer, scoundrel, pirate extraordinaire, and notorious bad boy, William Augustus Bowles, affectionately known as Billy Bowlegs, bursts on the scene. And the good citizens of FWB have never forgotten him. At least for the past five decades. Billy Bowlegs Festival has been around for 54 years. It features pirates

and a torchlight parade. The 34th Annual Billy Bowlegs Midnight run saw over 900 runners and walkers participate in the 5K run/walk at Fort Walton Beach High School, reports the Northwest Florida Daily News . And this year they added a new event: the Billy Bowlegs Pub Crawl. Now that sounds like fun…. More on Billy Bowlegs. Photo: Northwest Florida Daily News More FloriDUH
