A former capital reporter returns in a different role

Mark Hollis, a longtime capital reporter who recently covered Palm Beach County for the Sun-Sentinel, is returning to Tallahassee as communications director for the House Democrats.

Hollis is only the most recent journalist to leave the news trade during a moment of profound change and cutbacks. He will earn $75,000.

"I couldn’t

resist an opportunity to return to Tallahassee, where my daughter lives, and for a job that will present great opportunities and challenges," Hollis told the Buzz. "I will miss being a journalist. But I hope that new job will be the next best thing for me."
